About us
Piano Evenings with David Dubal is a weekly educational concert series where attendees get to hear and mingle with rising stars of the piano world, up close and personal. Each concert is hosted by David Dubal, one of the world’s foremost authorities on the piano, who provides historical and musical context for the repertoire selections which are performed by these extraordinary pianists.
Thus, the series serves the dual purpose of educating the public about the glories of the piano repertoire and introducing the audience members to young, high caliber pianists, many of whom are winners of major competitions with established careers, in an intimate setting. The audience also has the opportunity to enjoy pianists in return engagements throughout the seasons and witness how they evolve as musicians over time.
Tracing its origins to the storied classrooms of The Juilliard School, where decades of young pianists came to try out repertoire in front of an enthusiastic group of music lovers, Piano Evenings with David Dubal is now its own fully-fledged entity.
Audience members are privy to a behind the scenes glimpse of many elite young artists, as they hone their craft. The pianists, in turn, are given an open forum to perform in an environment that is conducive to musical experimentation and risk-taking.
Part of Piano Evenings' educational mission is dedicated to the art of listening, which is why each session will feature more than an hour of live performances. The piano repertoire is famously vast and ever-growing, so no two semesters of Piano Evenings will ever be the same. The course will never truly reach completion. Thus, students are encouraged to re-enroll each semester, and continue exploring the beauty and majesty of the piano literature together with their likeminded peers, in perpetuity!
